SIYAPHAMBILI

Siyaphambili – 10 Women Cooperative

The name Siyaphambili, meaning “moving forward” in siSwati, was chosen by a cooperative of women artisans united by a shared vision of creativity and empowerment. Their work represents both progress and tradition, blending ancestral inspiration with contemporary design.

Each broom and brush crafted by the group reflects precision, versatility, and artistry — infused with vibrant colors and shaped through a collaborative, design-led process. These handcrafted pieces are a celebration of the makers’ skill, balancing beauty and practicality in every detail.

As skilled basket weavers, the artisans of Siyaphambili use Lutindzi grass, a durable and sustainable natural fiber that grows freely in the wild. Through their craftsmanship, they not only preserve traditional techniques but also create new opportunities for social and economic advancement within their communities.
