Sharon’s Work

Sharon Venancio is a Swazi designer and visual artist trained in Surface Pattern Design, Interior Design, and Textiles, Apparel Design and Management. She is the founder and Design lead at Vuna Africa. Her practice is grounded in material exploration, collaboration, and process, positioned at the intersection of design and visual art. Through making, she examines how materials, forms, and traditional practices evolve over time.

She works closely with artisans and makers, developing a collaborative approach that values shared authorship and exchange. This way of working shapes both her individual practice and the direction of Vuna Africa, allowing each project to emerge through a considered balance of perspectives, skills, and material understanding.

Alongside her creative work, she is interested in building systems that support artisans beyond production, with a focus on visibility, access to market, and long term sustainability. This includes engaging interior design as a pathway for situating handcrafted work within refined, contemporary spaces. Through this, she continues to explore how design can connect people, materials, and place.
