Comfort Nkumane – Ceramic Artist

Comfort Nkumane is a multi-award-winning ceramic sculptor, colour maker, designer, and fine artist from Eswatini. With formal training in Fine Arts over two years, he began his artistic journey in 1982, joining the Swaziland Stone Cutters Association as a sculptor.

After gaining experience locally, Nkumane expanded his practice by working in South Africa until 1989. Upon returning to Eswatini in 1990, he continued to contribute to the country’s arts and crafts sector. In 1996, he took up a government position at the Codac National Handcraft Centre, where he played a key role in supporting and developing local craftsmanship.

With decades of experience across borders, Comfort Nkumane remains a respected and important artist in the local art community, celebrated for his innovative use of materials.
