MALOLOTJA CRAFTS
Mnqobi Mnisi is an accomplished soapstone sculptor from Eswatini, bringing more than 30 years of mastery to his craft. His artistic journey began at the age of 11 under the guidance of his father, whose teachings ignited a lifelong passion for carving. Today, Mnqobi is a respected artist, husband, and father, holding a Fine Art certification from CODEC with a specialization in soapstone sculpture.
Drawing inspiration from the natural beauty of Eswatini’s landscapes and cultural heritage, his work seamlessly blends realism and abstraction. Mnqobi’s sculptures often feature wildlife, human figures, and traditional Swati architecture, reflecting a deep respect for nature and community.
He is best known for his detailed representations of Africa’s Big Four—elephant, lion, rhino, and leopard—and has fulfilled major commissions for clients such as Eswatini Trading House. In addition to his artistic pursuits, Mnqobi collaborates with local designer Sharon to create functional art pieces that merge utility and aesthetics. Dedicated to mentorship, he is passionate about training young artists, helping them turn creativity into sustainable livelihoods.
